Ione Ehlert

She was preceded in death by her husbands Jack Schipper and Clarence Ehlert; son, Ronald Schipper; son-in-law, James Olsen; and sisters- and brothers-in-law Gladys and Mel VanderStolp, Fran and Gerrit Sterk, and Shirley Schipper.

She is survived by her children Linda Olsen, Roger Schipper, Richard (Nancy) Schipper, Randy (Lynda) Schipper, and daughter-in-law Sue Schipper; Clarence’s children Donna (Scott) Rolfe, Donald Ehlert, Ronald (Debra) Ehlert, and Robin (Bruce) Popma; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brothers- and sister-in-law Neal and Pat Schipper and Jim Schipper; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A child of the Depression and WWll, Ione worked a number of jobs over the years but her most important one was mother to her children, especially after the earthly death of Jack, leaving her with two teenagers and three toddlers. She held the family together through thick and thin. The family wishes to thank the staff at Vista Springs for their loving care over the last two years.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Sunset Park Church of God, 3450 Michael Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

In honor of Ione and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sunset Park Church of God or The Humane Society of Kent County.
