

Irma Jean Cerven, age 87, went to be with her Lord Monday, March 3, 2025. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Anton Cerven; parents Uriel and Jessie Jones; and brother, Curtis Jones. She will be remembered by her children Debra (Mike) Tervoort, Cathy (Bruce) Swan, Leslie Cerven, and Janice (Paul) Wittkowski; grandchildren Tracy (Duane) Ingles, Melanie (Joshua) Brown, Aaron (Kristy) Meyer, Sarah (Chad) Flachs; great-grandchildren Alexandra, Benaiah, Ezekiel, Zachariah, Cadence, Reuben, Judah, Noelle, Adrian, Kendra, Christopher, Abel, Adeline; sisters Jacqueline Greene, Patricia Severance, and Sharon Russell; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jean was born and raised in East Prairie, Missouri and later moved to Chicago, Illinois where she married and started her family, eventually settling in Jenison, Michigan. She spent most of her life surrounded by children and enjoyed teaching others to read. She has touched the lives of many students in her career at Maplewood Elementary School and was a kid at heart herself. Later in life, Jean continued serving others through volunteering and helping those in her community. She enjoyed traveling, walking, and remained active throughout her life.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418.
