Jack Raymond Bos of Grandville, age 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ January 5, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Violet Bos of Byron Center, and sister, Barb Lenhart. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 22 years, Ann Bos; children Sara (Jim) Bolek, Ryan (Kelly) Bos, Jason Bos, Jon (Alaina) Bos; stepchildren Maria Phelps (Travis) and Andrew Fletcher (Christina); plus many grandchildren; brother, William Bos; sister, Mary Cook; and many relatives and friends.
Jack’s early years started in Jamestown and at age 14, he began working at the family farm, Bos’ Orchard. He worked through his teens then went to Ferris State College. In 1969, at the age of 20, Jack was drafted into the US Army. His active duty lasted two years in which he made Specialist E4. After that, Jack became a truck driver making a living hauling steel out of Gary, IN and in later years, owned and operated his own small trucking company. His most recent job was working with his son at a trucking company where he took great pride in being the “tire guy.”
A favorite hobby of “Big Jack’s” was the weekly poker games which started decades ago with his longtime friends, famously known as The Byron Boys. Jack was passionate about Honda Gold Wing motorcycles, but once grandkids came into the picture, the motorcycles got swapped for a mobility scooter on which he used to give them rides.
Jack inherited an appreciation for gold and coins from his father who owned the Holland Coin Shop. Proof sets were frequent gifts from Grandpa Jack.
Jack's longtime battle with spinal injuries slowed down his body but not his enthusiasm for life. He loved his children and stepchildren, and was proud of each one of them. We will fondly remember him for his indulgences of coffee, chocolate, bacon, and cigars.
At the end of his life, his faith in God grew and he came to love Jesus. Now, he’s happy in Heaven with loved ones and in great health.
Memorial visitation will take place from 5-8 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2026 at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Family welcomes messages and memories at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
