Jack Land, age 87, went to be with his Lord Sunday, June 19, 2022. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Anna Land. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Cornelia Ann Land; their children Angela (Dale) Flowers and family, Brittany (Peter) Fashho (Emery, Gracie, and Milo), Caitlyn Flowers; Tom (Camille) Land and family, Joshua (Kimberly) Land (Calvin), Abbie Land (Teegan), Kristina (Nick) Ostrander (James), Amanda (Adam) Chismar, Ethan, Dominic, and Juliette; Randy (Lynelle) Land and family, Celise, Elicia, Haegan, and Stratton. He will also be greatly missed by his sister, Joanne (Harold) Voorhees; and brother-in-law, Tom (Judy) Barnett; as well as nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
Jack’s life exemplified the Kingdom of God simply by how he lived it. His walk matched his talk. He had quiet wisdom, humble in his knowledge. Jack loved people and always chose to put others first. He would be found investing into the lives of others and giving back to his family, church, friends, and even strangers. Jack served his country honorably with the US Navy as a Seaman on the USS Altair AKS-32 in the Mediterranean. Jack worked for most of his career at Central Michigan Paper Company in Ada, Michigan as Comptroller. Jack proved to be a dedicated employee with a strong work ethic while still embodying the love of Christ, earning him the nickname “The Velvet Hammer.” Jack faithfully served and worshiped for nearly 50 years at Riverside Christian Church in Grand Rapids, MI. He was a friend to all and wanted everyone he met to know the Jesus who was truly Lord of his life. Jack led his family well in this area and would be found saying, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” (3 John 1:4).
