Jacob Henry Postma, age 91, went to be with his Lord Monday, June 9, 2025. Jacob was preceded in death by his parents August and Johannah Postma; brothers David Postma and Al Postma; sisters-in-law Joanne Postma and Barbara Postma; brother-in-law, Ray Prins. He will be remembered by his wife, Lois Postma; children Bruce (Julia) Postma, Janice (William) Ruthven and Keri (David) Woodwyk; 12 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; sisters Gertrude Prins and Theresa Postma; brother, Harold Postma; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dad's greatest joy was visiting with his family, watching his great-grandchildren play, and welcoming new babies to the family. Dad's unwavering love and devotion of 71 years to our mom showed love and patience that was passed to all of us to exemplify. Dad enjoyed many days golfing over the years, enjoyed the warm sunshine of Florida during the winter months, and loved his woodworking projects - making some end tables, coffee table, and collapsible side tables which are now treasures to those who have them. Many years of camping with his kids and grandkids always brought enjoyment. He also enjoyed vacationing with Mom after retirement to Hawaii, Alaska, out east to Maine, and traveling out west through some of the national parks. He enjoyed his time with friends for morning McDonalds coffee for many years. Dad and Mom volunteered at Mel Trotter and Appalachia Reach Out serving those in need. Dad gave Packaging Corporation of America 44 years of dedicated service which served his family well. Dad also gave two years of service with the Army in the occupational forces serving in Germany. As patriarch of our family, he held his faith in Jesus to be of high importance and passed that belief on to all of us to stay true to the Lord Jesus Christ and live in him.
A celebration of Jacob’s life will commence 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025, with visitation one hour prior, at Hudsonville Reformed Church, 3950 Highland Drive, Hudsonville, MI 49426. Pastor Scott Van Oostendorp will be officiating. In honor of Jacob and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Corewell Health Hospice or Rehobeth Christian School in New Mexico.
