On Sunday, April 9, 2023, Jacqueline Lou Horton, went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 93. Jackie is now in the loving arms of Jesus, born into a new life and experiencing the glory of Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Horton and granddaughter, Angela Becker. She is survived by her children Janis Becker (Rick), Jane McLamara (Bill), Jeff Horton; grandchildren Emily Dixon (Ben), Jessica Anderson (Dustin), Abbie Wells (Pat), Pat McLamara (Carey); 11 great-grandchildren Skye, Aleena, and Carter Dixon, Byron and Penny Anderson, Mary, Alan, Tim, Molly Wells, Danny and Teddy McLamara.
As her family, though we will miss her greatly, we celebrate her life. Jackie leaves behind a legacy of a strong and gentle faith, love for family, caring for others, support for those she could encourage, and being a dedicated caregiver to Dad when he was in need. She was forever in the kitchen preparing her favorite dishes to share with others - often her famous cabbage rolls or pineapple coffee cake. She spent hours serving others in church activities, always befriending someone new. She was an avid reader and volunteered at the library as a book mender. A skillful seamstress, she had a drapery workshop in her home for many years. She and Jim shared lots of trips and enjoyment with barbershop friends from Jim’s singing days. Many years of camping at Horsehead Lake brought other wonderful relationships into their lives as well. Once the grandkids came along and were engaged in activities, you would see Jim and Jackie at most of their music and athletic events as part of the cheering section. Summer extended family vacations up north hold lots of memories.
Thanks to the many friends and neighbors who loved Mom and gave back to her. Thanks to the caregivers at Grand Village Assisted Living and Corsocare Hospice for their skillful and tender care.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to service. In honor of Jackie, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grandville United Methodist Church or CorsoCare Hospice. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
