
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his son, William Dever; his son-in-law, Leroy D. Hancock; and his grandson, Rick Scribner.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Rose Hancock of Dorr, James Jr. and Dorothy Dever of Dorr, Connie and David Hupp of Caledonia, Robert and Carol Dever of Dorr, Mary Dever of Wayland, and Elaine and Harold Scribner of Fife Lake; his 19 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren; his brothers, Forrest Dever of Plainwell and Charles and Viola Dever of California; his sister, Lena and Harry Donnley of Florida; his sisters-in-law, Florence Cash of Wyoming and Ruth and Rev. Donald Smith of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 29 at the Calvary Church of Wayland 304 S. Main St.in Wayland with Pastor Mike Hasper officiating.
Interment will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family will meet with relatives and friends on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home 2067 84th SW in Byron Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Church of Wayland Benevolent Fund.
