Celebrating his life and lasting legacy of love are his wife Linda and their children: Laura (George) Balderrama, Julie (Scott) Chando, Jennifer (Shannon) Haik, Jim (Anjali) McCormick, Angela Raak, Meredith (Timothy) Wright, and Lindsey McCormick, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Surviving are his brothers John (Mickey), and Dennis (Mary); sisters-in-law Rosalie McCormick, and Patricia McCormick; brother- and sister-in-law, Ron and Sharon Achtyes; brother-in-law, Keith Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Sara McCormick; brothers Edward Jr., Michael, and Timothy; and sister-in-law, Christine McCormick.
James was a proud member of the Local Union 174 Plumbers & Steamfitters for 50 years. Forty-three years ago James joined the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous which enriched his life with sobriety and lifelong bonds of special friends. James was also part of DeColores Ministries, where he was blessed to serve on many spiritual weekend retreats, which he loved. James enjoyed playing golf and watching Notre Dame football, but counted his family to be his biggest blessing. We will love and miss James every day, but are comforted by knowing he is now whole and healed in Heaven.
A special thank you to Dr. Richard Switzer whose friendship, kind and compassionate care embodies what it means to be a physician.
“…absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (II Corinthians 5:8).
