He was a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving his country in the US Navy. He was a counselor and a man who loved to help others, especially through the church to which he belonged. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He always supported his kids growing up by attending all sporting events. His passion was driving truck for Associated Truck Lines and Packing Corporation Of America (PCA). He drove over two million safe miles during his career without a chargeable accident.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Wilkerson; daughter, Susan Ulberg; brothers Ken and Jack; and sister, Carolyn. He is survived by his brother, Dan (Joyce); two sisters Mae and Cindy; sons James (Linda) Wilkerson Jr. and Jeffrey (Kerrie) Wilkerson; son-in-law, Mike Ulberg; grandchildren Kristin (Scott) Jost, Bradley (Allise) Wilkerson, Aaron Gardner, Nick (Brittney) Ulberg; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Holy Redeemer Parish, 2700 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials contribution can be made to the Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan - Meijer Heart Center.
