One of our favorite memories of Jane Jerry and the family are all the Saturdays at Murray Lake with all the cousins and the aunts and uncles and Grandma and Grandpa Berends. So many fun times swimming and eating wonderful potluck dinners together! Watermelon pit contests and eating sweet corn too many to count! Laughter abounded...those were the days, full of fun and love!

Jayne and I want to express our sympathy to Jerry and the entire Berends family. We knew Jane when we attended Rosewood Church ,together, and often admired all the activities she was involved with there. She was an inspiration for many people there, both adults and especially the children there.

There is nothing like losing a sister. I am blessed that I was given three sisters and have had this many years with the sister that we just lost. She was a rock for me during so many difficult times. Unwavering and strong.

She shared my joys, my fears, my angst, and my sorrows, prayed for my success and happiness, reinforced many of my perceptions and beliefs with her inquiring and analytical mind and prodigious research abilities, comforted me and lifted me up more times than I can count. She could blow up my Inbox better than anyone else I know and sent me one...or a dozen...or several dozen emails and responses to my emails almost every day of my life for the past few years. Boy, am I missing that! We had such a rich and mutually supportive relationship. How blessed I am to really know what that simple word 'sister' can really mean!

We were blessed, time and time again, by Mrs. Berends. She was a sweet light in the darkness, when our daughter had cancer. She devoted much time to working with Natalie, who was six years old at the time. Jane continued to work with Natalie for many years on Saturday mornings. She made it fun and exciting for the children. She had a "magic table" in her kitchen, where each of the students did excellent work.

We were grateful for Jane again, when our grandson was born. He was born at 22 weeks and 4 days, and Jane offered prayers and beautiful wisdom for us. She will be very deeply missed.

Love you, Dad! Miss you, Mom!

We had a challenging relationship at times. But, I always knew she loved and supported me. She was there every step during the dark days after losing my first Brian. And when my pregnancy with Brandon landed me in the hospital, she came every day. She prayed with me. She talked with me. And she cried with me. When he still came so early, she was at the hospital when he was born because she wanted to be there for us if something bad happened.
She was at the NICU with us frequently and was the first one to hold Brandon after me and Brian when he was stable and able.
She’s been the best Grandma to the kids and they will miss her love, rides on the walker “down the macaroni”, and her joy in everything they do.

No matter the question, Jane would research , answer and then discuss it with me. I admired her intellect and her ability to express complex ideas so even I understood them. She was a wonderful encourager and I will miss her.
