

Jane Kooistra (Jantje deVries), age 95, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Henry (Hindrik) Kooistra; grandchild, Pieter Kooistra; parents Pieter and Johanna deVries; sister, Imke deVries; brother and sister-in-law Pieter and Trijn deVries; brother, Romke deVries; and sister-in-law, Kee deVries. She will be remembered by her family in the Netherlands: brother, Frederick deVries, sister-in-law, Griet deVries, brother and sister-in-law Melle and Tia deVries; children Jo and Tom Weemhoff, Judy and Don Hamilton, Grace and Bruce MacLeod, Ken and Diane Kooistra, Marjorie and James Bakker, and Fred and Nellie Kooistra; grandchildren Jane and Brent Ackerman, David and Karla Weemhoff, Maria and Rod Vandenberg, Karen and Mat Wedeven, Lisa and Jason Vergouwe, Kristin and Wade Walcott, Jeni and Tim Vande Werken, Michelle and Brad Bosma, April and Scott Schaab, Kimberly and Mike Mersman, Danielle and Nick Sheridan, Lizabeth and Nathan Hulst, Kristin and Ryan Mast, Eli and Elisa Bakker, Asa and Grace Bakker, Silas Bakker, Hannah and Duncan Whitaker, Andrea Kooistra, Philip Kooistra, and Vanessa Kooistra; 38 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jane had a deep love for her church and cherished the opportunity to attend services. She showed her love for others by hand knitting dozens of hats, scarves, and mittens for Love, Inc. each year. She knit and crocheted numerous baby blankets, afghans, doilies, and over a thousand crochet-covered hangers. Her family and friends will miss her welcoming cup of tea with homemade “Beppe” bread.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 6 -8 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home (West building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. A Celebration of Jane’s Life will commence at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Casey Freswick will be officiating. In honor of Jane and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Beacon Hill Foundation. Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery.
