Jean Rae Bonn

Jean Rae Bonn, age 89, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord January 30, 2025. She was born February 19, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from South High School, where she caught the eye of her future husband, Keith (Casey). They were married July 27, 1953, while Casey was on leave from the Army.

Jean enjoyed a career with the Grand Rapids school system rising from a library aide at Straight School to secretary at the Spectrum Center for gifted students, which she especially loved. Jean retired after 25 wonderful years. After she and Casey were both retired, they enjoyed extensive travel throughout the country and loved going on cruises. She enjoyed many handcrafts and loved gifting them to others. She was an avid reader all her life.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Irwin and Esther Cooper and her husband, Keith Paul Bonn. She is survived by her children Sandra Kae Bohnstengel, Dennis Keith (Brenda) Bonn, Michael Brian (Karen) Bonn; grandchildren Casey (Jessica) Bonn, Alexander (Lindsay) Bonn, Trevor Bonn; great-grandchildren Esme Bonn and Finley Bonn; sisters Judi (David) Benison, Susan Cooper; special sister-in-law who loved her like a sister, Noralyn Gillette; best friend, Karen Bruner and her daughter, Janet, who are like family to us; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jean will be missed by all.

The family especially wishes to thank the Secure unit at the Lodge of Samaritas for their excellent care.

Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. and a light lunch to follow.
