Jean Ann Sargent Tuscan, age 71, passed peacefully May 11, 2024, in Grand Rapids, MI. Jean was born in West Branch, MI on August 21, 1952 to Bernard and Carolyn Sargent. Jean is survived by her brother, James (Kitty) Sargent; and son, Jonathan (Sarah) Tuscan; and grandchildren Ava and Jack Tuscan of Jenison, MI.
Jean attended Ogemaw Heights High School in West Branch, MI and Western Michigan University. She worked as a nuclear medicine technologist in Flint, Michigan prior to starting her family. After living in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio for many years, she returned to Michigan to be closer to her grandchildren for the past two years.
She loved all animals, but horses held a special place in her heart. After owning her first horse as a child, Jean spent many years volunteering at Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She helped in many ways, from assisting challenged students and war veterans to bond with the horses, to grooming horses and even cleaning the stalls. She won volunteer of the year several times and worked one of the highest amount of hours of any volunteer. Due to her dedication, Jean won several presidential awards for her service. Her loving and giving soul will be missed by her friends and family.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. June 6, 2024 at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 2766 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428. Following the service, a celebration of life luncheon will be held at
Lowing Woods Clubhouse, 3067 Lowingside Dr., Jenison, MI 49428. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory may be made to Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center, 16497 Snyder Rd., Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023.
