Jeff, I am grateful for the opportunity I had getting to know you. Your honesty, humor, and love of life were a very special thing to witness. I am honored to have been a part of it even for a short time. It was clear from the way your parents spoke of you even before your illness how much they loved and enjoyed you. Rest in peace Jeff.
 Janice, The devotion and love you demonstrated with Jeff was amazing. He could not (and did not) ask for a better nurse and Mom. You always put his needs before yours even turning into the "ugly man" at times. Even at his most difficult you promised him you would "love him all day long". Your strength and giving spirit are awe inspiring. I hope I live up to the shining example of motherhood you have set. I love you.
 Mike, You never gave up on Jeff. You took all of those long exhausting trips to U of M. You encouraged him to fight when he didn't want to. You forced him out of bed in the mornings when he wouldn't get up. When it was time you found a job and gave Janice the gift of caring for her son the way they both needed. Thank you Mike for being a wonderful Father and Husband!
 Ian and Shannon, Thank you for the support you have given your family. I know you wouldn't have it any other way, but your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed.

I didn't know Jeff very well, but what I did know of him was that he was very kind, thoughtful, and sweet to a very dear friend of mine. He was always smiling when I saw him. I feel lucky to have met him.

 Your life was far too short and we are all poorer for your passing and for what might have been. Know that you will live on in our hearts and memories of the good times we shared. I will always remember your smile, your eagerness to show me something new, your competitiveness (I guess that chess rematch and the thumping at pool you promised me will have to wait for a while). God bless you Jeff, and while I mourn your passing, I am relieved that your suffering has ended and I hope that you have peace and eternal happiness.

Jeff, was there for a lot. At least 10 years of memories together, so there is no way that I could single out one thing. Odd border crossing, or the summers on Mackinac or just playing pool together. He was a great friend to me and I hope I returned the favor well enough.

Jeff took me on my first date ever to the Rainbow Grill after a half day in middle school when he was in eighth grade and I was in seventh. We walked to the restaurant together after school and he was a really nice guy - he always was - and I'm pretty sure he even paid for my meal! I hung out with him a couple of times after that during and outside of school - including going fishing in Big Spring with our mutual friend Brad as we all lived just a block of two away from each other and Big Spring. I've always remembered his smile.
