John M. Bantjes

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Bantjes; infant daughter, Janice Bantjes; and parents John and Wiepkja Bantjes.

He will be remembered by his children John (Marcie) Bantjes, Sandra (Robert) LaRoe, James (Doris) Bantjes, and Sue (Mike) Bantjes-Kuiphof; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

John was proud of his country and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He taught for over 35 years at both Grand Rapids Christian High School and Grand Rapids Junior College using his chemistry degree from Purdue. John retired from the DNR in 1992. He was a devout Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on March 26, 2019 at Heritage Christian Reformed Church, 3089 - 84th Street S.W., Byron Center, MI 49315. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 with visitation one hour prior at Heritage Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Bob Bolt will be officiating. Interment is at Winchester Cemetery.

In honor of John and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideon’s International or the American Legion Hall, Dorr.
