He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Kooienga; second wife, Gladys Kooienga; 13 siblings; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children Ric (Sandy) Kooienga, Bonnie Hitts, Pam (Ken) Waite, Pat Czuhai, Sharon (Mike) Bogardus, Doug (Donna) Kooienga; stepchildren Ed (Jan) Spoelma, Kathy (Dan) Van Dyke; 19 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; siblings Gerald Kooienga, Lloyd (Vicky) Kooienga, Elma Meeuwsen, Lorraine Folkert, Twilla DeWitt, Joan Sattler, Lois Jean (Stan) Dykstra; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
