John was born and raised in Grand Rapids, where he attended Creston High School until his graduation in 1951, at which time he did a tour of duty in the military through the Coast Guard. He and his wife, June Stoutjesdyk, raised a family of seven children: Michael (Cindy) Stoutjesdyk, Lori Page, Leonard Stoutjesdyk, Marcia Leys, Tom (Colleen) Stoutjesdyk, Christina (Mark) Pickel, and Craig (Tanya) Stoutjesdyk.
He took solace in his later years with his wife Nancy, who passed away before him in 2014. He is also survived by his brother, James (Francis) who reside in the Dallas suburbs. John has 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2020 with visitation one hour prior at the Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville 49418. Pastor Hank Vlaardingerbroek will be officiating. Interment is at Floral View Memorial Gardens.
