John was a proud World War II Navy veteran. He was longtime member of the Kent County Honor Guard, participating in approximately 1,000 funerals honoring fallen veterans.
John had many other interests and hobbies including clock and watch repair, woodworking, gardening (he loved sharing the produce he grew), and also making beer and wine. He loved to tinker and was known to modify or repair almost anything. He recently enjoyed playing euchre and cribbage with his friends at Aurora Pond Senior Living.
John was a longtime employee of C&O Railroad and worked as a volunteer firefighter in his younger years.
John was a member of The Church of the Open Door in Wyoming and enjoyed the community he found there. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. His daughters would like to thank the staff at Metro Health Hospital emergency room and the fifth floor, and Faith Hospice for their compassionate care to John in his last days.
