As a new teacher at my first job, I remember Joyce as the helpful librarian at Riverbend elementary schooling the late 1970s. Her positive, bubbly, infectious laugh and sense of fun as well as genuine thoughtfulness for students is what I can still recall. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.

I remember sailing on the lake with Aunt Joyce and Uncle John, watching the musical fountain, Uncle John's sweet smile and Aunt Joyce's fun laughter.  She was always the gracious hostess and a loving aunt.  She will be greatly missed. I will miss her Christmas letters, too.  She always let us know how things were going.  Hope my cousins keep up the Big Dill Pickle tradition with the Christmas tree cutting.  How she loved those dill pickles. I am glad that she now will be reunited with Uncle John. Joyce was truly an inspiration to all of us.  I joined Coldwell Banker AJS Schmidt in October of 2013 and I will always remember, Joyce being so helpful and inspiring, we were all on our way to a conference in Lansing and I just remember how nice she was to me, sitting in the backseat together.  Prayers go out to all of her family and friends as she will be sorely missed.  We love you Joyce, Rest In Peace.

Joyce was a staple in my life since I was in elementary school in Grandville and she was my librarian for years during the late 80's and early 90's.  She was also my family's Realtor for many years when I was growing help.  She helped my parents buy and sell 4 houses from the early 90's through the early 2000's around Grandville and Wyoming.  I have very fond memories of her.  I became a Realtor in Grand Rapids and had the pleasure of connecting with her on a few occasions over the last 3-4 years.  It was always a joy to see her and she always remembered me, even as one of her "star readers" from Grandview Elementary.  Prayers to your family for the loss.

I have wonderful memories of Joyce as our school librarian at West Elementary in Grandville.  She touched many students as well as teachers lives.  She made library fun and brought books alive for the students.  As her friend I loved all her wonderful stories of family.  She was always a joy to be around as she enjoyed every day to the fullest.  I will miss her.

Joyce was our librarian at West Elementary for many years.  She was so devoted to helping students increase their love of reading.  Her devotion to family was never in doubt.  Her love for her husband John could be seen every day.  One story she told will always be remembered by me.  She had told us that after watching a television program depicting pregnant women working in the fields step away from others and give birth, that this couldn’t be too difficult.  As I recall, she tried it herself and told us that she ended up ruining her couch at home.  I’m not sure if I recall it all correctly, but it does demonstrate her great sense of humor.  Her letters at Christmas time, filling us in on what had transpired with her family in the preceding year was always something we all looked forward to because there were always so many moments of joy present.  Joyce will always remain a very fond memory of my years at Grandville Public Schools and West Elementary.  She will be deeply missed at our retiree luncheons.  My condolences to all family and friends of Joyce.
