Judy was born on August 1, 1940, in Kankakee, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Stirling, and sister, Robin. Growing up in Kankakee, Judy met the love of her life in high school—her husband of 64 years, Kenneth C. Palmateer. Together, they built a life centered around love and family, eventually making their home in Jenison, Michigan. After retiring, Judy and Ken moved to Florida, then returned to Jenison in 2016 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Judy was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her family and close friends. She had a fun-loving spirit and especially looked forward to visits from her grandchildren in Florida—taking them to the beach, collecting seashells, and enjoying time together. She found happiness in the simple things, like watching The Price Is Right, antique shopping, and adding to her collection of paperweights. She leaves behind many special memories that her family will always hold close in their hearts.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Palmateer; children Michelle (Lee) Edson, Malyn (Roger) Goeman, and KC Palmateer; grandchildren Kailyn (Justin) Speaks, Kyle (Melanie) Goeman, and Courtney (Tyler) Deur; and great-grandchildren Charlie and Miller Speaks, Lewin Goeman, and Jax and Lennon Deur. Judy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Per Judy’s wishes, a private family memorial will take place at a later date in Kankakee, Illinois. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
