Dear Barbara, A member of the old RBCPC youth group tracked me down with news of Karen's death. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I remember Karen as a very loving, faithful, bright and encouraging member of our youth group. I so glad to read of her continued faith in Christ and that she had such a wonderful church in Michigan. Dear Mr. & Mrs. Topp,
 I'm don't believe I ever met either of you, at least not more than in passing. I went to high school with Karen, and also to church at RBCPC with her for three years. I've been out of touch with her off and on since I left Poway, but recently I had asked her forgivness for my lapse in penpal-ship and she had, as always, forgiven me. Your daughter meant a lot to me when we were growing up together, and I will ALWAYS cherish the times I spent with her in Catalina, at school, at church, and just hanging out. She was always there for me when I needed her, and she was always such a special person. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know I speak for everyone that knew her at church and at school and everyone that knew her that I didn't know when I say she will be greatly missed.

Dear Barbara, Rene and I were shocked to hear about Karen. She was a real constant in the Jr. High ministry here at RBCPC. When I came on staff, Karen told me that she would be there for every event, as long as we needed her. She was very committed to her ministry with the youth. I have wonderful memories of you and Karen, giving faithfully, Sunday after Sunday, year after year, and side by side in our Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church Sunday School classes. Dear Barbara, I don't know if you remember me, but we shared time together as members of a women's Bible study while you were still at Wyckoff Reformed Church. I work at a regional newspaper here in NJ and help write the obituaries, which we obtain from The Record. I saw the notice for Karen on Thursday. Oh, how my heart aches for you! I remember her so well as an 8 or 10 year old, that amazing, dark curly head next to yours in church and her sunny smile. I remember how close you were in those days and remember the tenderness of your love of your special daughter. I have thought of you over the years, since you moved away, and now see that you are in Michigan.Please know that my heart reaches out to you as a mother at this time of unbelievable loss. I commend you and the rest of your family to the comforting arms of our Savior and pray that you will find peace in knowing that Karen is home at last with the Father whom she obviously loved and served with joy.May God be close beside you all in the coming days.
