CHRISTENSEN - Katie M. Christensen, age 98, formerly of Trufant passed away June 5, 2001 and went to be with her Lord. Mrs. Christensen was the founder, owner and operator of Christensen’s Nursing Home. The nursing home was started in 1953 and grew from 4 rooms to 108 rooms. She also enjoyed spending time with family, needlework and cooking. Katie was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, two brothers, four sisters and son-in-law Benjamin Jalacki. Mrs. Christensen is survived by one daughter Shirley Jalacki of Grandville; one grandson Michael Pam Jalacki; one granddaughter Kenda Chuck Klotz; great-grandchildren, Stacey and Christopher Jalacki, Chad and Katelyn Klotz; several nieces and nephews; and special sister-in-law Margaret Slot. The funeral service will be held Friday at 12 p.m. from Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1481 Baldwin St., in Jenison, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Interment Trufant Cemetery. The family will meet with relatives and friends Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home west building 4235 Prairie St. SW, in Grandville.
