Kay Ann Bolthouse passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on February 28, 1945, in Grand Rapids Michigan, she devoted her life to caring for others with a nurturing heart and a giving spirit. In May 1964, she married John Bolthouse. He was her “Johnny on the Spot.” Together they built a life grounded in love, fellowship, and family.
She worked as a dedicated paraprofessional; her calm, caring presence made a lasting impact on many young lives. Beyond her work, Kay cherished time with friends and family. She found joy in spending time with others around the kitchen table sharing coffee, playing board games, crafting, always lending a listening ear, and engaging in everyday conversation. She made it a priority to be present for their lives. The kitchen table wasn’t just for coffee and conversation; it was her gathering spot. Her warmth, strength, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, John; sons Russ (Fatima) Bolthouse, Bryan (Colleen) Bolthouse; grandchildren Melissa (Jerren) Benton, Christine (Ryan) Neeley, Allyson Bolthouse (fiancé, Logan Lockridge), Emily Bolthouse (Eli Beute); great-grandchildren Colin, Joshua, Micah, Kylie, Addilynn, Luca; siblings Joan (Chuck) Maloley, Phillip (Gayle) Horton, Susie (Mike) Feigel; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Kay, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.
