Kenneth Rhodes Emery

Kenneth Rhodes Emery Kenneth "Ken" Rhodes Emery died peacefully on April 3, 2013 after a life long battle with juvenile diabetes. He was born on April 28, 1944 to Neville and Florence Emery in Chicago, Illinois. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Neville and Florence Emery.

Ken is survived by his wife, Pamela (Boatman), his son, Mark (Katie) Emery, grandchildren Max and Naomi Emery, brother Jack (JoAnn) Emery and their children Julie (Mark) Bennett and John Emery. Ken will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Betty Boatman, and three generations of extended family.

Ken enjoyed golfing, sailing and swimming. He was a master wood worker, most of the furniture in his home he crafted himself. More than anything Ken loved spending time with his grandchildren. Ken will be remembered for his sense of humor, courage and dedication to his family. He will be remembered by his grandchildren as Papa Ken.

The family will greet guests from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday April 7 at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at 3:00. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in Ken's honor. The family would like to thank all the staff of the Intensive Care Units at the Meijer Heart Center for their care and compassion.
