Ken came to know his Savior as a young boy which propelled him into a life of serving others to the glory of God. He graduated from WK Kellogg Agricultural Consolidated High School, Hickory Corners, MI in 1955. During his high school and subsequent college years, he served in the US Coast Guard Reserves. He graduated from Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music in 1959. Soon after, he married his college sweetheart and beloved wife of almost 62 years, Sherrill.
For the next 62 years, Ken served as a pastor in eight different churches in Michigan and Wisconsin. He was known for his love for people and unashamed proclamation of salvation in Jesus Christ. In addition to pastoring, Ken was passionate about Christian camping, fire department chaplaincy, and the ministry of IFCA International. This passion grew out of a deep desire to use his gifts to glorify God and lead people to Jesus. As an avid outdoorsman who loved to be out in God’s creation, he would use these adventures to communicate the truth about his Lord. He was never without a copy of God’s Word and would frequently be found reading it whether in his easy chair, hunting blind, or fishing boat.
Ken is survived by his wife, Sherrill (Lehman) McGee of Wyoming, MI; Timothy (Laura) McGee of Benton Harbor, MI; Faith (James) Schneider of Milwaukee, WI; Rebekah (Timothy) Caminiti of Grandville, MI; Mark (Andrea) McGee of Port Alsworth, AK; 15 grandchildren (plus seven spouses), and 18 great-grandchildren; brothers Larry (Judy) McGee of Kansas City, MO and Richard (Helen) McGee of Galesburg, MI; brothers-in-law Bill (Terri) Lehman of VA, George Fellers of AR, and Dwight (Gloria) Lehman of MO; sister-in-law, Mary Lehman of AR; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mildred McGee; father- and mother-in-law Glen and Geraldine Lehman; brother-in-law, Glen Lehman Jr.; sister-in-law, Bonita (Lehman) Fellers; and nephew, Robbie McGee.
Visitation is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Friday May 21, 2021, and Celebration of Life Service 11 a.m. Saturday May 22, 2021. Both will be held at Byron Center Bible Church, 8855 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI. The family is being served by the staff of Byron Center Bible Church.
