Kenneth Oosterbaan

OOSTERBAAN - Kenneth Oosterbaan, aged 82 of Grand Rapids, went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, February 9, 2001. His daughter, Evelyn Wielhouwer and grandchildren, Kent Michael Wielhouwer and Heather Nicole Combs, preceded him in death. He leaves his wife of 60 years Hermina TerAvest, children DuWayne Jan Oosterbaan; Connie Herman Milligan; Phyllis Bob Tillema; Ken Bobbie Oosterbaan; David Jan Wielhouwer; grandchildren Scott Teresa Oosterbaan, Ami Bryan Walker, Gregg Nicole Oosterbaan, Emily Rick Olson, Amanda Combs, Kim, Jon and Dave Tillema, Jason and Brian Oosterbaan, and Dena Milligan; great grandchildren Holly, Olivia and Mallory Walker, and Gresham Olson. He is also survived by sister Angie VanderArk; brothers George Marge Oosterbaan; Les Marilyn Oosterbaan, sister-in-law Jennette Henry Drenth, Eve Meeter; Winnie TerAvest; extended family, Henry and Trudy Roelofs, Agnes Fish, John and Sally Roelofs, Dan and Sharron Roelofs, Lynn and Jay Mol, their children and grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and special friend and neighbor, Ken Smith. Mr. Oosterbaan’s devotion to God was displayed in his involvement in planting area churches such as Grandville Baptist Church, South Kent Baptist Church and many years of work with World Vision International. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Cook Memorial Chapel east building 4235 Prairie St SW with Rev. Wayne Schimdt officiating. The family will receive friends Monday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home Grandville west building.
