I just learned of Kim’s passing. I loved this guy! We spent hours discussing everything from philosophy, theology, music, you name it! A true renaissance man and a true friend. I’m so sad. I can’t wait to see him again on the there side. Beyond all the above, we also shared a friendship with Jesus! Prayers for all who grieve the loss of this giant of a man!

On the bulletin board all the top-40 printouts (available at record stores in the 60's).  Apparently some clips from the GR Press were on the wall (Kim wrote some Music Criticism for them in his late teens and early 20's).

My brother taught me so much!! He made sure I knew what "Plato's Dialectic" was and that I read the "Great Books of the Western World" (Including Adler's "How To Read a Book" (!).  He taught me to be critical/cynical/even sarcastic around hypocrisy - and to look beyond the layers of people (or systems).  He helped me be brave.  He also introduced me to the Blues - Clapton and Hendrix, sure, but also John Lee Hooker, Memphis Minnie, all the Kings - Albert, Freddie and B.B.  And of course Muddy Waters.  With Kim I wrote an unfinished book - interviewing Muddy's son (Charles Williams)  in Chicago - across the street from Muddy's historical home - for over 60 hours (!) on U of M's dime.  It was a scary and long endeavor but brought us closer. In the last years we have been going annually to a Lansing Lugnuts game - mostly ignoring the game and just "catching up" (esp. talking nonstop about our kids and grandkids).

Kim was a gentle caring soul and a good friend. My wife Kim was honored to help him research genealogy. I loved helping him in his local history research as he merrily led us down another rabbit hole. He understood the joy of discovering something just for fun. Kim always asked me about how and my family were doing and encouraged us in many ways.

Jan, our condolences to you and your family.  We remember Kim’s quick wit and laughter. He always had a story to tell. He brightened up every party and dinner that we shared together. He will be missed.

Kim was a wonderful friend and we had many good times with him and Jan. We loved his sense of humor and the many stories he shared which often kept us laughing! His love for the Lord was an integral part of his life. He will be greatly missed but we know we will see him again when we all get to heaven!

My brother hipped me to Stravinsky and Michael Bloomfield. Sam Lay and Albert King and Albert Collins.  we did a recording when I was five called “the heavy heads“. It was most certainly a joke… But somehow he was leading me on to a interesting place. he was also weirdly worried that I didn’t know the difference between Plato  and Aristotle, and supported my work to the very very very end. I will miss him. For the last years, I’ve gone to see the Lansing lug nuts play - with him. It was our “summer thing”. It was so fun and we used the time to catch up. I willgo next year without him.. … sob.
