Lee Gordon Luscher, age 84, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Lee was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherri, and parents Gordon and Dorothy Luscher. He will be remembered by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann Luscher; children Ann (Mark) Siuda, Lisa Boonstra (Tony), and Walter (Leslie) Luscher; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces, a nephew, and many friends.
Lee enjoyed a successful career as a concept engineer and worked for Rapid Design Service, Imperial Design, and AutoDie International, among others. He credited his success to the many smart and wonderful colleagues who helped guide him along the way. During his career, Lee developed innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges, and he kept the crisp dollar bill he received in exchange for a design patent he sold to Evans Products. Lee was the man to call when solving a manufacturing problem or when a new idea was needed. He found working with robotics to create automated manufacturing lines both challenging and rewarding, and he never stopped learning. Lee was always an avid reader and became a history buff. Antique cars, trains, and World War II planes were among Lee's many interests, which also included gardening. As a boy, Lee raised gladiolus for the Holy Name Altar Society, and his skilled hand at calligraphy was used to pen the scroll placed in the time capsule in the cornerstone of Holy Name Church in Wyoming, Michigan. Throughout his life, Lee never forgot his childhood pet, a big white bunny named Fluff, which was the first of many animals that he cared for. When he finally had land of his own, Lee also cared for cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, and horses as well. Lee was very involved with his kids and grandkids and spent many years participating in 4-H, the Morgan Horse Society, Georgetown Little League, Jenison Band, Science Olympiad, and many fun field trips. He always enjoyed hearing the stories of their adventures traveling, hunting, and fishing.
