Lee Roger Petersen, age 71 of Pierson, MI, passed away in his home April 19, 2022. He was born September 4, 1950, the fourth son of Carl Henry Petersen and Ethel Florence (Weersing) Petersen, in Grand Rapids, MI. He was married to Susan Hendricks June 1974.
He graduated from Creston High School in Grand Rapids and started his career in tool and die work and manufacturing. He managed his father-in-law’s manufacturing company and worked for a home building company. When employment was tough, he completed training and received a Class A Certified Truck Driver's License and drove semi-trucks for a short time. He also was employed by Petersen Plumbing doing customer sales and residential plumbing repair work before retiring.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as camping and skiing, but his favorite was motocross cycle riding in Michigan’s beautiful forests. He also was a music aficionado of many genres, but his favorite was Christian music. He loved to read and learn any “science” about the world around him. Although usually quiet, he enjoyed telling interesting stories and jokes. We all enjoyed sitting around the campfire at the cottage listening to him.
Most importantly, Lee recommitted his life to Jesus Christ his Lord and felt at peace and was not afraid of passing through the shadow of death (Psalms 23:4).
Lee is survived by his son, Karl Lee Petersen and his wife Olivia; brothers Jim (Wendy), Bruce, Tom (Deb), Cris (Lucy); sister, Keri; sister-in-law, Louise; and many nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by his father, Carl; mother, Ethel; wife, Susan; and brother, Chuck.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at New Life Baptist Fellowship Church (6252 Burlingame Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI), with visitation one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service.
