

Lloyd Arthur Ropp of Mecosta, Michigan, left this world peacefully on the morning of February 24, 2026. He was 90 years old. Lloyd was born in Pigeon, Michigan, on April 23, 1935, to Arthur and Evelyn (Johnson) Ropp.
Lloyd was educated in the Midland Public School system. He began working as a young teen on a local farm doing general farm work. Then he worked for Rex Graves TV store, delivering televisions. He brought the first TV to the Ropp family home.
Lloyd began working for Dow Chemical Co. when he turned 18. He devoted the next 43 years of his life to Dow. He worked in the Saran Department, as a crew boss, and as a dispatcher. Lloyd was also a member of the National Guard.
Lloyd married Darlene Kennedy on October 6, 1956. They had four children: three sons Ricky, John, and David; and one daughter, Yvonne, who died at birth. In later life, Lloyd married Barbara, and then Cora.
Softball was the love of Lloyd’s life. He played competitive softball in the shortstop position and umpired until he was 55. He was highly respected as a coach by his teammates. Playing with and watching his sons play softball was a true joy.
Hunting camp was fun times that he enjoyed with his brother Bob and his brother-in-law Garry. His nephew Ryan Ropp came along as the camp cook.
Living on Tubbs Lake with Cora in his later years, Lloyd loved fishing, camping, and entertaining family and friends. On Lloyd’s 90th birthday, family and friends joined him at the lake. While everyone enjoyed great food, fun games, and wonderful conversations, Lloyd laughed and smiled all day.
Surviving Lloyd is his son, David (Pam); brother, Ken (Becci); sister, Joan Montle; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Ropp, and his mother Evelyn Ropp; wives Darlene, Barbara, and Cora; sons Ricky (Gail) Ropp and John (Karen Ropp-Mehlhose) Ropp; brothers Claire Ropp and Bob Ropp; sisters-in-law Darlene Ropp and Pat Ropp; and brother-in-law, Garry Montle.
