Lois was born to Augusta and Edna Newman of Springville, Iowa, on March 29, 1922. She was born of simple means, but loved every day and everything she had with total passion. She held several positions at an electric company and Bishop's Cafeteria during World War II. She met John Stark, the love of her life, in 1946, and they were married a few weeks later. They had two daughters and both of them adored her. She was the perfect example of what a mother should be. She spent hours sewing and knitting gifts, clothes and toys for them and helping to prepare them for adulthood. She always made her house a home by decorating it for all seasons, and there was always a wonderful aroma of delicious home-cooked meals and desserts coming from her kitchen. This precious lady was known by her family and friends for never saying an unkind word. She was active in her church, bridge clubs, sewing clubs and coffee groups. These activities continued after moving to Wyoming in 2006. Upon her husband's retirement, they began to travel and spent 23 winters in Las Vegas.
Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband, John, of 64 years, and survived by daughters Sandra (Don) Frentrup, and Tricia Taylor; grandchildren Spencer (Karli) Deer, Shauna (Dirk) Fankhauser, Shelby (Tim) Clay, and Sherae (Jason) Brown; and 11 great grandchildren Corey, Sydney and Callen Deer, Greta and Greighson Fankhauser, Donnie, Timmie, Joey, Allison and Robbie Clay, and Stella Brown.
In accordance with Lois's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be a memorial service held at Bayberry Farms Village in June. Memorial contributions in memory of Lois may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Grand Rapids. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcares.com.
