Beth, Jeff, Abigail and Matt:
 We are saddened by the loss of your Dad and Grandfather. He certianly lived a full and Christian life. Be comforted that he is now at peace with no more pain. Our sincere sympathy also goes out to his caring and faithful wife of 52 years.

Dear Aunt, Sandra, Sue, Beth, and families, 
 Uncle Lowell leaves a legacy of love and kindness that you all know far better than the rest of us. But, as a nephew and member of a close-knit family -- at least back in the days when everyone was together and the VanDerBill group would gather at yearly events, and Grandpa and Grandma Wieberdink would congregate nearly every Sunday -- we were all very close. 
 We will always be struck by the intimacy of your relationship, Uncle Lowell and Aunt Sandra, and will always cherish your examples of faith and fidelity.
 Uncle Lowell was a construction and outdoor working kind of man. I recall him as part of Cornie Bonnema's construction crew building our barn in 1961, for example. I was surprised when he gave that up for awhile to become a barber -- and I think he even built his own shop, there in Prinsburg. I also suspect that, in my longer-haired days, he would have liked to have a snip at my hair more often than he did.
 It was no surprise then, that when hair-cutting became scarce, Uncle Lowell returned to construction work -- eventually becoming a landscape builder in Michigan. Careful, strong-as-an-ox, hard-working, honest, kind, and principled. Those are some of the features of the image of Uncle Lowell I had, and hold.
 A good man, passed on to glory. That, too, is the story of our lives. We all a�" especially you, Aunt Sandra, Sue, Jeff, Andrea, Claire, Beth, Jeff, Abby, and Matt -- will miss him. But we know that he has not met his end but, rather, his Maker and a new beginning.
 Also in memory of my mother and father, who loved Lowell dearly and for Marlin, Lyle, and their families as well, I write this memory.

Dear Sandra & Family, It was a blessing for me to visit with Lowell over the past few months. To be able to sit with him and share memories of our home town and the people we knew was very special. His kind gentle manner was inspiring to me. I will miss the times we had together. My prayer is for the peace and comfort that only God gives will surround you and give you joy in knowing that Lowell is in glory,

To Sandy and each of your family,
 We are so sorry for the great loss and the sadness you feel. May you celebrate Lowell's entry into the presence of the Lord, all struggles now over. May that same comforting presence surround each of you.
 We are grateful that we got to know Lowell in our later years. His humility and acceptance were so evident and felt by all. I am honored to have shared his name, Slagter.

Dear Sandra,Daughters and your families, I When I opened the Grand Rapids Press this morning I was so surprised to see Lowell's Obituary. You have my deepest sympathy. He was such a dear man, I hope he did not suffer too much. Sandy I remember him always concerned about you, he loved you very much. Those are good memories. I I had Grandchildren who I was caring for so I could not attend the service this morning however my thoughts and prayers were and are with you. I hope he did not suffer too much. I remember Lowell as always being very concerned about you Sandy. He loved you very much. Those are good memories for you.
