Dear Larry, Tammy, Zach, Phillip and Rose, It is with such sadness that we received the new of Luke's passing. We will miss him. We look so forward each year to seeing all of you and catching up while camping. Payton looked forward to bombing around the Conference Grounds with Luke, and shared a bond with him because of their siblings. Words which describe Luke to us are gentle, loving and kind, which were evidenced by the way we observed him treating Phillip. He was such a good brother to Phillip, always patient and kind, yet knowing how to coax him into leaving our camp site to return to yours. Luke's big smile is a trade mark memory for us. Our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. Our daughter Monica Heyboer was a dear friend of Luke's. Luke was such a pleasure we loved having him come around to see Monica. She was very blessed to have such a wonderful friend. She has commented that she feels like she lost a brother. It comforts her heart to know she will see him again in Heaven. You know me through my Uncle Jerry and Aunt Marcia Mahler, amongst other ways. Just read Tuesdays GR Press and see your beloved son has been in an accident. My prayers are with you and I am sorry this awful thing has happened. Luke looks like an all American young man. Believe it or not the broken heart and emptiness will slowly get better. I choose to recall a loved ones beauty and how the soul last forever as opposed to focusing on the way a loved one has passed. Time slowly adds perspective. It has been 25 years in a couple days for me. Praying for you and your family.
