Lydia Helen Faulk, age 95, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Dr. Reverend Burdette Faulk; son, Kevin Faulk; parents Karl and Helen Schneemann; and her eight siblings. She is survived by her children Marilyn (David) Hudson, Karin (Dennis) Nelson, Kevin Faulk (deceased; survived by his wife, Lori), and Steven (Susan) Faulk; grandchildren Heidi DenBesten, Matthew Hudson, Heather Klein-Wassink, Jonathan Nelson, Andrew Nelson, Kevin Faulk II, Kaley Laug, Kody Faulk, Ella Faulk, and Katherine Faulk; and ten great-grandchildren.
Lydia’s life was characterized by music and service to God. She gained her musical experience as the second-youngest of nine children who all played an instrument, and who provided spontaneous “concerts” to the neighborhood by practicing on their front porch. Her passion for ministry also began at a young age, accompanying her dad on lay-ministry visits. When she married Bud Faulk at the age of 18, she was plunged into the life of a pastor’s wife. They did evangelical work and joyfully pastored various churches while raising four children. Wonderful memories were created as a young family in their vacations in a travel trailer. In later years, the adult children often joined them in making lifelong friendships in their annual trek to Fort Myers Beach. In addition to the many ways Lydia served the Lord through the Assemblies of God and the Evangelical Covenant Church (choir director, pianist, organist, speaker, youth group leader, and teacher), she always took the time to minister one-on-one by counseling, mentoring, and sharing Jesus with all in her path. She will be remembered by her family as a devoted mother, a wonderful cook and hostess, and a beautiful example of Christ’s love.
A private memorial service for immediate family will be held at a future date. Interment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park. The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Edison Christian Life Services for their two years of exceptional care.
In honor of Lydia and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Edison Christian Life Services, 1000 Edison Ave. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504, or on their website (edisonchristian.org). The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
