

Maedy was born in Bangka, Indonesia, and lived on the island of Java until the age of three, when she and her family moved to the Netherlands. At age six, they were sponsored by Mayfair CRC in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and relocated to the city where Maedy would call home for the rest of her life. She graduated from Grand Rapids Central Christian High School and went on to attend Blodgett School of Nursing, where she received her LPN license. Maedy worked as a nurse off and on until 2007.
Maedy will always be remembered for her unwavering kindness, generous nature, and her carefree and easygoing spirit. She had a great love for food and spending time with family and friends. Maedy always had a smile and left a lasting impression on all those whom she met. Maedy’s legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Maedy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Wielenga; parents Charles and Yvonne Oudhoff; brother, Charles “Rick” Oudhoff; and in-laws Edward and Lucille Wielenga. She was also preceded in death by her brother- and sister-in-law, Al and Carol Heintzelman.
She will be deeply missed by her children Aaron (Sarah) Wielenga and Tina (John) Pfeiffer; cherished grandchildren Ethan and Ava Wielenga; and siblings Wilma (Darrin Watkins) Johnson, Joyce (Richard) Bodbyl, Frank Oudhoff, Glenn (Becky) Oudhoff, and Debra (Tony) Jerovsek-Whyte. Maedy is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and humor.
