Hello DeBoer Family, 

This is Courtney, one of Margie’s nurses. It is with such a heavy heart, and through tearful eyes that I’m posting on this message board today. I am so truly sorry for loss. Although I only took care of Margie for 2 days, she really left a lasting impact on me. She is one patient that I will never forget. She had a kind heart, a beautiful smile, and such a positive outlook on life. I cannot imagine the heartbreak you are feeling right now. I send my hugs and sincerest condolences. She will be missed by so many.

It didn't take long for me to conclude that Marge DeBoer was one of my absolutely, all-time, favorite persons.   With my son marrying Marge's granddaughter, and being very pleased with this, I walked into an all-new family through the backdoor.   Marge sat beside me at the wedding rehearsal dinner, and we connected immediately.   There was no pretense or dutiful facade -- just the real, honest, sincere person that she was who opened her heart, her faith, and her caring love to this stranger perched beside her.    Then, about six months later, we were privileged to visit this new and beautiful Michigan family for Thanksgiving.   On Thanksgiving evening my wife and I walked into Marge's home and made our way through an endless crowd of wall-to-wall, heretofore unknown, chattering, happy people.   I think they were family, but in this open, accepting, joyous environment, everyone is family.   I was not the stranger to Marge.  She took me by the hand and led me on a tour of her lovely home, stopping at each aging photograph to explain the detail, the history, and the identity of these kinsmen with whom she was so proud.    Now my new friend is gone, but she really isn't.   Thank you, Marge.   Save me a place up there, for someday I'll sit beside you again.

Grandma DeBoer was an amazing person.   I was new to the family after I married Marci DeBoer three years ago.   The first time we were introduced she came right over to me and gave me a hug.   She always made me feel welcome, and I enjoyed the talks we shared.   She was always interested in hearing about my family and my native heritage.   Her sense of humor always put a smile on my face.   I can say I was truly blessed to have her in my life.   Until we meet again, much love, you are dearly missed.

Marge DeBoer was a great woman.  She will forever be remembered as my neighborhood Mom, Mother-in-law for 20 years, my children's grand mother, and great mother!!  May you rest in peace and my prayers to family who are going to miss her.

A mother is a treasure chest of all that her children need, including discipline, encouragement, a listening ear, a helpful hint, a kind remark. This treasure chest also contains some rare gems such as crazy dances, silly stories, or ice cream shared right out of the box. So thankful that treasure chest was passed on to you. You, too, have made life special for your children. Keep those memories alive and coming.

My thoughts and prayers are for the family of Margie Deboer during this time of loss. I didn't have the privilege of getting to know Margie well, but I could tangibly see the impact that she had on people, through Mary Deboer and on my dear brother and Margie's Grandson, Nick Deboer. From what I gather, Margie was a remarkable woman who has left a rich legacy that will carry on for generations through those that she loved. She is now rejoicing in Heaven, with her Savior Jesus Christ....hearing him say to her, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." What a testimony! Larry, Mary, Nick and the rest of the family, may God give you peace and strength and may you carry on with the Hope, that you will get to see your Beloved again!
