Marian Louise Ganzevoort, a dedicated servant to her community and a beloved child of God, was called to her eternal rest on May 24, 2024, at the age of 91 in Jension, Michigan. Born on January 9, 1933, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marian led a life marked by humility, a deep respect for all of creation, and an unwavering commitment to aiding those in need.
Throughout her esteemed career as a medical assistant, Marian demonstrated a profound sense of compassion and dedication, embodying the virtues of care and service in her every action. Marian's love for music and nature was a reflection of her appreciation for the Lord's handiwork, finding peace and solace in the rhythm of the waves and the melodies that spoke to the soul. The color blue, a symbol of trust and loyalty, was her favorite, mirroring the depth of her own character. Her voluntary services at Widowed Persons Service, the Red Cross, and Sunset Manor—where she frequently played piano—were acts of gratitude, a giving back to the community that was a central aspect of her faith.
Marian leaves behind a legacy of love in her children Candy Marz (Chris) and Jerry Ganzevoort (Christine); brother, David VanOostendorp; cherished grandchildren Brian Marz (Dawn), Andrea Marz (Dave Poortvliet), Dan Marz (Theresa), Jim Marz, Sarah Ganzevoort, Alex Ganzevoort; and her adored great-grandchildren Dakota Marz, Keira Marz, Hazel Marz, Madelyn Marz, Lily Ganzevoort, and Olivia Marz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marian now joins in Heaven her beloved spouse, Dale Ganzevoort; parents Gerald and Hazel VanOostendorp; and sister-in-law, Shirley VanOostendorp, all of whom preceded her in passing.
Marian's life and spirit will be honored and cherished during a visitation occurring at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan 49418 between 10-11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, followed by a service commencing at 11 a.m. where loved ones will gather to celebrate her journey to eternal peace. In Marian's memory and in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Sunset Legacy Foundation, Corewell Health Hospice, or the Humane Society of West Michigan. These contributions will continue the ripple of Marian's influence, aiding in the care and stewardship of creation she so dearly loved. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guest book online.
