

Marian Koster, age 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 19, 2024. Marian enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, and making a warm and inviting home for those who entered. Her active lifestyle led to 88 years of time spent with her family, whom she loved dearly. Marian was the eighth child and the second set of five sets of twins of 21 children to the late Gerrit and Johanna Kooienga.
Marian is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Simon “Si” Koster Jr.; parents Gerrit and Johanna Kooienga; son-in-law, Mike Geelhoed; brothers Andy, Hank, Arnold, Elmer, Floyd, Jim; and sisters Ardean, Marilyn (her twin), Pauline, and Pearl.
Marian will be lovingly remembered by her children Nancy Geelhoed, Bethann (Steve) Broersma, Vicky (Steve) Avink, Sandy (Dave) Jongekrijg, Rod (Jamie) Koster; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brothers John, Wayne, Gerald, Lloyd; sister Gerrita, Elma, Lorraine, Twilla, Joan, Lois Jean; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Cook Funeral Home (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at Second Christian Reformed Church in Byron Center, 7588 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 10-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Marian will be laid to rest at Floral View Memorial Gardens next to Simon Jr. In memory of Marian and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Hospice – Trillium Woods.
