Marilyn Joyce Kool (nee Homerson), age 87 of Jenison, Michigan, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Waterford Place in the memory care unit. She was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduating from Grand Rapids Christian High School in 1953. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Jay, and they married November 19, 1954. Jay and Marilyn had three children, of whom they were always very proud. Marilyn worked as a secretary for a legal firm, owned clothing stores in Holland and East Grand Rapids, and most importantly created a loving home for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jay; children Marybeth (James Cannon), Doug (Amy), Brenda Rinks, and Tom Rinks; grandchildren Ryan Kool (Michael Venet), Meagan Miskosky (Nick), Dayton, Drake, Nolan, and Beck Rinks, Alisha Ostrowski, Cristina, Alaina, and Nate Cannon; great-grandchildren Jacob and Grant Miskosky, and Noah Venet-Kool; sister, Joan Koop; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Reverend John and Alice Hommerson and her brother, Dr. Harold Hommerson.

There will be a visitation from 11-11:45 a.m., and a celebration of life service 12 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI.
