Martha “Marty” Eerdmans, age 95 of Grandville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Friedrich and Emma Wollner; brothers Fred and Herbert Wollner; husband of 62 years, Ted; and granddaughter, Erika. She is survived by her children Ingrid and Al Bierfeldt, Darlene and Steve Bodish, and Rick and Monica Eerdmans; grandchildren Alex Bierfeldt, Sarah and Stephen Bodish, Emily Bodish and Caleb Stewart, Erin and Evan Avila, Andre and Shannon Eerdmans; brother, George Wollner; many nieces and nephews.
Marty was born in Marienfeld, Germany. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1951. She met and married Ted in Grand Rapids. She was the consummate homemaker - excellent cook, amazing baker with her chocolate birthday cakes with mocha frosting being legendary, proficient in sewing, knitting and crocheting, and gardening. She loved to dance and socialize and was a longtime member of the GBU and Dutch Immigrant Society. She was self-taught on the harmonica, playing in the Grandville Senior Center kitchen band and around the campfires. She was a devout Christian and longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Friends and family are invited to funeral services to be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 3655 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. There will be visitation starting at 10 a.m. prior to the service. In memory of Marty and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church or Emmanuel Hospice, 2161 Leonard St. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
