In Wyoming, Michigan, a luminous spirit has taken flight, leaving behind a tapestry of memories and a legacy that shall forever be cherished. Marty Jo Perez, a name that resonates with love and tenderness, graced this world on a warm summer's day, July 11, 1953. And on a wintry eve, January 6, 2024, Marty Jo left this earthly realm.
Marty Jo was a single mom of three; she worked so hard to set the foundation for her children. There are many words to describe whom Marty Jo was; she was inspiring, fierce, smart, loving, loyal, forgiving, astounding, selfless, and hilarious. She was the matriarch of the family; throughout her time of need and in her final days, she had everything planned, down to her urn being bought on Amazon because it is cheaper. She told her kids to be sure to take care of the rest, the rest being her grandchildren. On her deathbed she told her children to tell the rest of the kids in their family to always do the right thing, have fun, and live life to the fullest or she will come back to haunt everyone. She was always up to do anything, whether that be going for buggy rides with Jay's family, adventures with Alysha's family to stores or different activities going on around town, or the many baseball games with Heather's family. Her family was most important to her; she loved having Sunday dinners and celebrating all of the family’s birthdays, making special birthday dinners for each person.
As we bid farewell to Marty Jo Perez, we find solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved. Though her physical presence may be gone, her memory will forever be cherished. Marty Jo was preceded in death by her father, Robert George Cupp; mother, Joyce Elaine Cupp; and brother, Craig Scott Cupp.
Marty Jo will be lovingly remembered by many people: her children Jason (Kim) Perez, Alysha (Dan) Oles, Heather (Corey Ortega) Perez; grandchildren Arianna Oles, Racheal Loew, Aurora Perez, Gabriel Oles, Victoria Perez, Jason Thomas Perez, Cayden Ortega, Colin Huffman, and Isabella Oles; great-grandchildren Graci, Renae, Marshall and Azaelea; sisters Sandra (Tracy) Toothman and Denise (Ken) Noorman; along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and "the strays."
In this time of mourning, let us come together to celebrate the life of Marty Jo Perez, a remarkable individual who left an imprint on our lives. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us to live with compassion and love. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2 - 6 p.m at Viewpond Banquet Hall, 1665 Viewpond Dr. SE, Kentwood, Michigan. The service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a luncheon and time of visiting to follow. The family welcomes memories and messages at ww.cookcaresgrandville.com in Marty Jo's online guestbook.
