Marvin G. Poelman, age 96, went peacefully home to his Lord and Savior Friday, February 21, 2025. Marvin was born August 1, 1928 to Jacob and Elsie Poelman in Grand Rapids, MI. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine. Marv was a good father who is remembered for his genuine love for his family, his faith in Christ, and his contentment with simple things like home life, grandchildren, boats, camping, fishing, and chocolate chip cookies. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Joy Elaine (Carrick), after 74 blessed years together.
Marv will be deeply missed by his five children Kathleen (Robert) Dykwell, Steven (Nalini) Poelman, Lynda (Michael) DeVries, Mark (Barbara) Poelman, Laura Poelman; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to funeral.
