Mary Ann (Wilson) Luscher, aged 86, passed away at her home Sunday, June 15, 2025 and now rests peacefully in the arms of her Lord. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lee G. Luscher; daughter, Sherri; and two special people, John and Gertrude Jacobitz. She will be remembered by her children Ann (Mark) Siuda, Lisa (Tony) Boonstra, and Walter (Leslie) Luscher; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces, a nephew, and many friends.
Mary Ann graduated from Union High and worked for a time at Old Kent Bank and Trust. Married to the love of her life, Lee G. Luscher July 1, 1961, she proved herself to be a talented homemaker and dedicated mother.
While raising her young family, she gardened, keeping the pantry full by canning, freezing, and pickling fruits and vegetables. She baked the best rhubarb pies and her gingerbread boys at Christmas were lovingly decorated and always special (as was her Kahlua). Mary Ann was a talented seamstress. She sewed many clothes, costumes, and the first communion dresses for her young girls. Later, she made banners for the 4-H Rough Riders Club, flags for the newly formed Jenison High School color guard, and teddy bears for the children’s hospital. She became a Girl Scout leader, sharing her talents with many young girls by organizing activities like camping and craft making to help them earn badges and advance in the program. Mary Ann supported her children, and later grandchildren, by providing goodies for bake sales and cheering for them through countless parades, band/orchestra concerts, horse shows and soccer games. Mary Ann loved most any family gathering. Birthdays, holidays, milestones in life such as first communions and graduations were occasions to celebrate. She especially loved having picnics.
As her children got older, Mary Ann returned to school and earned a nursing certificate. She worked for a time at Brookcrest Nursing Home in Grandville. She enjoyed reading and gardening and over time more flowers took over the vegetable gardens until they became a riot of colors attracting birds and wildlife. She joined the Red Hat Society and enjoyed making new friends and traveling. She supported causes special to her including wildlife conservation, veterans groups, and the heart and diabetes associations.
