One of my favorite books when I was in high school. I think I read it at least 3 times in a years  time (my uncle was on a PBR during the war, and I wanted to be a SEAL, so I was drawn to this book when I saw it in the Christian book store). I was lucky enough to hear Mickey speak at a mens retreat with my dad, and get my over used book signed. I was so star struck that when he asked how to spell my name I said  "yes". Needless to say I was sad to hear he passed.

Mickey was quite good. I saw him at a church in Dallas. He gave a good testimony of his life and the way Christ delivered him. Mickey is now rejoicing around the throne.

To know you, Shirley, and the children truly has been a highlight of my life. You and your family will remain an inspiration to many for eternity. God Loves You and so do I, always and forever.

I am Rose from West Palm Beach I saw Michael daily.I will never forget his words of wisdom and the many jokes we shared. May we all heal from his loss. My prayers are for the family that they love and help each other thru this time.

I first met Mickey when I began working as a resident aide at Waldon Woods Retirement Home and he was a resident there. I had a LOT of respect for Mickey and he was always so sweet to me and to the other residents there and the staff. I felt really bad for him when they told him he would have to move to the Vets Home. I prayed with him then and told him I would continue to pray for him. It was an honor to know Mickey even for just a short period of time. I am in the process right now of reading his book and I am in hopes of getting to know this man better through this means. God bless your family richly, thank you for the HONOR of having known your father, Mickey Block.

I am a Cena at the Grand Rapids Home for Vetrans. Mickey was not my patient. He was my friend. I will miss Mickey alot. Mickey and I would talk about alot of things. One thing Mickey talked alot about was how proud he was of his childeren. Mickey let me borrow his video tape The Mickey Block Story. I enjoyed the movie very much. I would love to have a copy of the video if it is possible to get. Dear Mickey Block Family, Mickey was a fine man with a lot of good qualities. He loved his family and spoke of them every day. He will be missed at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

I didn't get to see you for years. I remember you coming home from Viet Nam when I was a young boy. I read your book and found it very interesting. May you find complete love in the arms of Jesus. My sympathies to your family.

Think of you often Mickey! Did not know you were with our Lord until lately . I praise the lord that you convinced my brother to accept Jesus as his saviour . We were close to the film but God knew better. See you when I get there!!!

To the family of Mickey:
 I just finished Before the Dawn, and am very sad that I never had the chance to meet you and Mickey. My wife, Vicki, and I were in Arlington, Texas for eight years (June 2001 - Jun 2009). I can't say that I experienced all that you and Mickey did, but we have been through similar experiences throughout our fifty plus years of marriage. Most of my first tour in Vietnam (December 1965 - January 1966) was spent working with the Graves Registration Team for the Third Marine Division. I, too, was a Hospital Corpsman, was trained at Great Lakes, and retired from Great Lakes in 1992. Even after all this time has past, Mickey's book has been a true blessing. I'm being treated through the VAMC in Battle Creek, Michigan, and am also blessed to be able to work with them in an advocacy capacity.
 I would like to be able to meet Shirley, Jodi, Bryan, and Rocky if the opportunity presents itself. We live in Plainwell, Michigan, and visit the Dallas/Forth Worth area every year, this year from October 20 - 27.
