We have attended the same church as Mike did, and enjoyed the time we had together talking after services. He was a great president of our condominium Board of Directors. Serving with him there was a great honor. As a neighbor, we had several good times together, visiting after his health trials began. Always dignified; always self-contained; always compassionate and willing to serve those less fortunate--that was Mike. We grew to be very fond of this quiet and gentle man. We will have to do some significant changing of schedules in order to get to Mike's funeral on Friday. If it is possible to attend, one or both of us surely will. Otherwise, we will hold dear the memories we have of Mike and are so glad we got to see him when we did at home and also during his final days at hospice care. His friends and family were a great comfort to him, as was Little Mike, his beautiful kitten.

I worked with Michael at Coopersville Mi General Motors and Diesel in the White Room.. Two years at what we called the "Bodine" he was so loving and easy to work with side by side. When I was going through some stress in my life..he was a rock for me. A dear friend. Often having a smile on his face and love within his heart for many. He was devoted to his family and brought into work lots of memories of the days on the boat with his family and friends. 
 Being with him just a few days before his passing, I felt such peace and love from his Spirit. His eyes radiated love...and holding his hand, without words, for me was so peaceful. Which only showed his life ...was with God. Bless you my friend...eternally.....Rosalind

I worked with Mike at Delphi. I Knew who he was but didn't really know what a great and loving person he was till we worked together at The Ronald MacDonald House. He volunteered at SO many places and really cared about other people and took that extra step to always help them out. He was a very strong Veteran. He was a good friend to have. I will miss his unconditional love to others. He just didn't talk about doing something for others HE DID IT. R.I.P. my friend. You have taught me to be a better person by your actions. What a wonderful person! I was a volunteer at the Roanald McDonald House with him. Mike distinguished himslef with his compassion for the less fortunate. I will always remember Mike and how proud he was to serve in the US Navy. If he wan't helping at the RMH, he was at the Kid's Food Pantry. He also attended many, many funerals of local soldiers (who he did not necessarily know) who lost their lives in service to the country. He was an avid reader and loved the Detroit Tigers. Mike will always be an inspiration to me...of what good one can do with your life. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Mike's family and friends. May he rest in peace. God bless you, Mike.

Mike was an advocate for the homeless also. On more than one occasion when our church, Plymouth UCC, needed a volunteer to help with our Interfaith Hospitality Network, Mike rose to the occasion. I will miss his compassion and dedication.

Mike was an outstanding shipmate during our military service in the Navy. We served together aboard the USS Tallahatchie County (AVB 2). We continued our friendship at our ship reunions every other year. He will be missed by so many, a flame extenguished to soon.

I meet Mike in 1968 MIke and MY late husband Mike were in the Navy together, along with his brother Pat. My Husband and I pick Mike up at the Brooklyn Navy Yard as he was waiting to be discharged and sent home to Grand Rapids. We also went out to Grand Rapids in 1969 to visit Mike and Pat and the Webster family, who treated us royally. We also went back to visit with our 3 children, and most recently went to Michigan with 2 other shipmates and Mike met up with us at a museum of an old LST. I also enjoyed being with Mike while attending the Tallahatchie County Reunion with of some of the shipmates/ MIke you will be missed and rest in peace. I knew Mike from the Ronald Mc Donald House.I am so sad to hear of his passing. He was a great guy and a dedicated volunteer driver. I will treasure our conversations. He always came with a book to read in the slow times. Sometimes we talked about books, his other volunteer activities or politics. When I worked as a weekend manager he always asked if there were driver shifts that needed to be filled on the rest of the weekend. Most of the time he was able to fill in some of those shifts. He will be greatly missed at the Ronald McDonald house by those of us who knew him.

I met Mike through attendance at Plymouth United Church of Christ and thoroughly enjoyed talking with him and volunteering together. He shared, or at least tolerated, my quirky sense of humor as evidenced by one of our last conversations: Mike - "My new kitten's name is Mike, too. He had the name when I got him." Me - "When people call on the phone, how will you know which Mike they want to speak to?" Mike, without missing a beat - "By the tone of their voice!" :) Aw, Mike, I will certainly miss you.
