Mildred Hoekstra

Mildred Hoekstra, age 75, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, May 28, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Anna Hoekstra; her brother, Jay and Marcia Hoekstra; her brother-in-law, Harold DeYoung; her father and mother-in-law, William and Florence Hoekstra of Chatham, Ontario, Canada; her brother-in-law, Pete Hoekstra; and sister-in-law, Jean Hoekstra.

Millie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Andy Hoekstra; their children, Bill and Kim Hoekstra, Brenda and Arlyn Overweg, Bob and Nancy Hoekstra, Bonnie and Terry Mast, Barb and Mike Bouma; their 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her siblings, Anna Mae DeYoung, Junior and Jean Heyboer, Gerald and Nancy Hoekstra; Andy’s siblings, Jake and Ann Hoekstra, Shirley and Frank Singor, “Big Bill” and Millie Hoekstra, Tina and Pete Schenk, Cecile and Jerry Vanderveen, Sara and Cor Vreugdenhil, Gerald and Regina Hoekstra, Rolina Hoekstra, “Little Bill” Hoekstra, Micki Hoekstra; and many nieces and nephews.

Millie was a hardworking, fun-loving, wonderful lady. She helped Andy in their different businesses. They traveled all over the country together, spending time with some great people along the way. Millie wrote poems and did needlepoint as hobbies. She loved her Lord and her family with all her heart.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Forest Grove Christian Reformed Church, 3515 Perry St., Hudsonville, Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, June 2, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 AM, at the church. Pastor Ronald Bouwkamp will officiate. Interment will be at Forest Grove Cemetery. In honor of Millie, contributions may be made to Faith Hospice – Trillium Woods.
