Myrt Hiddema

Myrt Hiddema, age 95 of Grandville, MI, passed away peacefully July 8, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marv; daughter, Tracy Roberts; and son, Randy Hiddema. She is survived by her children Carla (Larry) Chamberlain, Torry (Barri) Hiddema, Ginger (Dan) VanMalsen; and daughter-in-law, Eve Hiddema.

Myrt was a beloved grandma to Kelly (Heath) Port, Mindy (Ron) Denning, Ryan (Jessica) Roberts, Jason (Megan) Roberts, Tyler Hiddema, Lisa (Paul) Lomasney, Savanna Reveur (Alex Beecroft), Taylor (Sarah) VanMalsen, Dallas Hiddema, Brady VanMalsen (Ellenora Haskin); and a loving great-grandma to Lucy Denning, Ryder Roberts, Henry Denning, Kaeda Roberts, Emmerson Roberts, Quinn Roberts, Galen Port, Breckon Roberts, Alice Denning, Ellery Lomasney, Callum Port, Valerie VanMalsen, Kipton Roberts, and Piper Lomasney. She is also survived by special neighbor and friend, Dick House.

Myrt designed the house where she and Marv raised their five children and she spent her life creating a home where everyone felt accepted, included, and important. She treated friends like family, and greeted guests with a genuine, "welcome!" Everyone had a seat at the table - our big family and anyone we brought along. She loved hosting holidays and celebrations, sharing favorite recipes, stories, and traditions. The most joyful welcome and a seat at the table are now hers in Heaven.

A celebration of life open house will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 2015 8th Ave., Byron Center, MI 49315.
