

Pete was born March 11, 1939 in Leiden, The Netherlands to Peter H. and Henriette Robyns. In 1949 Pete and his family immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Grand Rapids. After graduating from Michigan State University with a Master’s Degree in Education, he dedicated 34 years as a history teacher, basketball coach, athletic director, and assistant principal with Newhall Junior High (Wyoming Public Schools). Pete enjoyed reading, model railroading, and spending time with his family. He was a proud MSU alumni and an avid Spartan sports fan.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 54 years, Marge; children, Vicki Robyns, and Dan (Andrea) Robyns; granddaughters, Amelya Jane, Hadleigh Rose, and Makenna Grace; brother, Bob (Judy) Robyns; sisters-in-law, Barb (Bill) Glauz, and Julie (Howard) Stephens; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and abroad.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at First (Park) Congregational Church, 10 E. Park Pl.,N.E., Grand Rapids, with Rev. Todd Petty officiating. Relatives and friends may meet Pete’s family Friday, March 17, 2017 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie, S.W., and Saturday from 12 noon until the time of his service at 1 p.m.
