I am so sorry to hear about Ralph. I graduated with Ralph and my memories of him are his smile and laughing and teasing. I saw him last at our 20th class reunion and he was just the same. Still the same smile and joking around as if he had just seen me the day before and not the 20 years that it had been. My prayers are with his family and friends.

We are all saddend by the loss of Ralph, but we can have comfort knowing that he is with the Lord now. He was a very generous and kind person. Cindy and I enjoyed the times Ralph was here in Iowa to help us when relocating the Wensco branch in Davenport, and the times when we were all up at the lake at the company picnic. Ralph would take us out on his boat, we would go tubing and he would also take us to the Dunes. We sure had a lot of fun! He will be missed.

To my son: When I think back on your life I can't help thinking of all the good times we had. We would take trips all over the country and stop at every amusement parks. Sandy and dad would ride all the roller coasters and you and Judy would go on the other rides. then traveling thru the mountains you and Judy would fight over who would get the middle of the seat because you both were so afraid, but the things I remember most are your sending me sixty-four roses on my sixty-forth birthday and our going out for lunch every Friday because you reealized that I was gettin older and you wanted to spend time with me. Never did we realize that it would be the opposite way with you going before me. I love you son and you are going to be missed. mother

I think back over the years, and remember you waiting at home to drive me to work because it was snowing or slippery, knowing we would face the wrath of Grandpa for being late. I remember the "last" time you helped me move, you were very specific that it was the very last time you would help me move, even though I think you helped me one more time.....thank you very much! I enjoyed shopping with Deb while you waited patiently in the car so we could go to dinner at Crazy Horse. I am most grateful for our last year together, spending every Monday together. Being able to tell you that I love you, that I will miss you, that my life won't be the same without you. You showed me incredible strength, dignity and love and I will forever be grateful.

I have some really good memories of my brother Ralph. At a time like this it's really hard to put them into words, much less read them at his funeral. Ralph and I were pretty much a team when we were growing up. We played outside a lot together and fought with each other as much as we played. When we went on family trips we were always in the pool together seeing who could stay under the water the longest. We also enjoyed being the "elevator operators" at hotels. We got really excited when someone would give us a tip for our services!! As we grew older we would go "4 wheeling" in his really cool brown truck. We got stuck a lot, but that was part of the fun. After we became adults our relationship stayed close. For a long time Ralph came over every Wednesday night for supper and then we played dominos. Thankfully he was a gracious loser because I am not. We had a lot of fun together. He would frequently call out of the blue and say "Hey, doesnt't the Essenhaus or Zehnders or Boones sound good? Let's go!" and he would expect us to go on a moments notice. I want to remember Ralph the way he was before this battle with cancer. He was very brave and often sttubborn throughout these last 15 months, as his illness took a toll on him. He did the best he could with what life dealt him, but, the Lord had other plans for his life. I want to thank his wife Deb for the loving care she gave to Ralph. I know it wasn't always easy to put up with him and to have their home invaded by the Eggleston family on a regular basis. But, she put on a tolerant smile and was gracious throughout. It was very obvious to me how much she loved my brother. I miss you already Ralph, but I am so glad to know I'll see you again someday.
