

He was born near Coopersville, Michigan in 1919 to John and Grace Breen. After working on his family’s farm for several years, he was called to the ministry. He graduated from Hope College and Western Theological Seminary. While attending college, he met Pauline Stegenga, whom he married in 1948. During his ministry, he served the following churches: Corinth Reformed, Fremont First Reformed, Calvary Reformed, Fourth Reformed, and the Orthodox Reformed Church, all in Grand Rapids. After retiring, he served as minister emeritus in the Protestant Reformed Churches. \
Peter is preceded in death by his 11 siblings and his oldest son, Rev. Dr. David Breen.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; daughter-in-law Linda Breen (Leah and Kent DeYoung, Rachel and Chad Chapman, David and Heather); Rev. Stephen and Linda Breen (Timothy and Tamara, Nathan and Mary Beth, Daniel and Kristin, Sarah and Tyler Graham); Mary and Dr. James Veldkamp (Benjamin, Abigail, Elizabeth and Kyle Willard, Rebecca and Andrew Nyeholt, Martha, Peter, John); Ruth and Robert Stacey (Bethany, Deborah, Samuel); and Elisabeth and James Koerner (Andrew, Joel and Elizabeth, Joanna, Miriam, Matthew, Ruth); great-grandchildren Lydia, Makenzie, Jakob, Lukas, Jericho, Selah, Alexandria, Jacob, Christian, Faith, Abigail, Silas, and Matthew; sisters-in-law Erma Breen and Lillian (Wendell) Rooks; cousin Marjorie Stelter; and special nephew John Breen Jr.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 29 at Southwest Protestant Reformed Church, 4875 Ivanrest Ave., S.W. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 6 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28 at the Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St, S.W., Grandville, as well as one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery following the service.
